PUTTING PEOPLE FIRST

We had a great turnout for Champagne and Chocolates. Thank you to everyone who attended.

Big Wins for JeffCo

Dear JeffCo Dems:

I am awash in mixed emotions today.  I am devastated on the Presidency, but the news is all good here in JeffCo.  So let’s start with the good news, and it is very good.  Jefferson County had an 82% turnout of voters, this compares to the Statewide,  which was only 64%.  Voters wanted their voices heard in JeffCo.  And JeffCo had the MOST votes for Kamala Harris of any county.  We won EVERY race in JeffCo, from the RTD board, to the County Commissioners to the Colorado Legislature.

On the ballot measures, many things went our way.  Let me start with Ballot measure 1A, retaining revenue for Jefferson County.  I took a very personal interest in this measure and the JeffCo Dems really showed up to support it.  JeffCo Dems volunteers dropped literature at 55,000 doors. Proposition 131 was defeated, maintaining our gold standard election system.  And Amendment 80 was defeated, which would have opened the door to spending public money on private and religious schools.

JeffCo delivered.  And it was a team of hundreds of volunteers that made it all possible.  You are a force to be reckoned with, and there is still work to do.  There will be elections in 2025 and 2026 that are just as important for our lives as 2024.  City council seats, and the all-important school board will be on the ballot next year.  We must maintain our values at every level of government.  In 2026 we will have as many as seven county wide races that we must win.  There is a future, and it is ours to create.

We are all grieving, but we cannot lose sight of what we have to celebrate.

My door continues to be open to you at all times, please reach out if you need to talk.

 Onward!

 In solidarity,

Kathryn Wallace, Chair
